INEOS Rebels UK head to Barcelona
- Extreme Sailing Series, Act 3 Barcelona takes place 14 – 17th June
- INEOS Rebels UK are the youth team of Britain’s America’s Cup team, INEOS TEAM UK
- Helmsman and mentor Leigh McMillan a three-time ESS Champion
This week INEOS Rebels UK – the youth team of the British America’s Cup team for the 36th America’s Cup – return to competition in the Extreme Sailing Series.
Act 3 gets underway in stylish Barcelona from the 14th June and runs until the 17th. After two initial Acts the team currently sit fourth overall on the scoreboard with 19 points, just two points behind third and second placed Oman Air and Alinghi, who are tied on 21. The Rebels will be looking to improve on their third-place podium finish in Lake Garda just two weeks ago.
Skipper, 22-year-old Will Alloway, commented on the team’s forthcoming racing, "Lake Garda left us in a good position in the overall standings for the Extreme Sailing Series. Since then we have gone away and debriefed the key points from the racing and hopefully we can put all those lessons into good effect and keep working our way up the rankings.
“Barcelona is going to be a very different venue to Lake Garda, we are expecting choppy conditions and the potential for a big sea state. Some of us have raced on the waters before so we are also hoping that experience will help us on the race course.”

The Rebels will continue with the same line up from Lake Garda with three times Extreme Sailing Series winner and INEOS TEAM UK senior sailor, Leigh McMillan as helmsman and mentor and Will Alloway as skipper. Oli Greber retains his role on the bow, with Mark Spearman as mainsail trimmer and Adam Kay completing the squad as float.
